For over 30 years now, the Vanuatu Golf Open (VGO) is held at the Port-Vila Golf and Country Club,  at Mele because it‘s the only 18 hole Championship Course in Vanuatu. The VGO is a very well-known in the South Pacific golfing calendar as it attracts professional and amateurs (men and ladies)  from the South Pacific countries.

This year, due to the impact of the Cyclone Pam that hit Vanuatu in March,  the event took  the form of an “invitational” for the professionals.  Many of the regular players have developed  over the past year a  special bond with the families from Mele as they were always present during the event, supporting them from the beginning till the end. That is why the emphasis of the 2015  VGO edition is on having fun, while at the same time raising much needed funds for Mele Village and the Course.

This year  was a little bit special as Brad McIntosh and R.J. Caracella both ended  the 4 rounds with a total point of 277 (-11) each.  After 2 rounds of playoff (18th hole) only, it was night fall already;  the 1st prize was then shared between them: a wonderful way to end this fun week.
